I recently styled an insert for the lifestyle magazine programme show called Mela, which airs on Sabc 3. Saaleha from ShootCake shared details of how she began her career in Photography and how to enhance the picture quality of images using post-processing software.
The product shoot featured a little girl enjoying her ‘pretend-play’ tea-party with her doll, cupcakes and sugar cookies!
I drew inspiration from a beautiful cloth that I had purchased years ago from a brand called Rhubarb. The colours blended beautifully in with our environment, using The Houghton Golf Course as a backdrop to our styled ‘Picnic’.
Zaheera from ‘The Fondant Fairy’ designed the cupcakes according to the colours present on the floral part of the cloth. I always look for inspiration in cloth design or the patterns in my tableware. This usually guides my style of decor, and the mood of the florals. A key point to begin styling your own table lies in using colours which you are familiar with, and that you have an abundance of! It always helps in creating a fuller ‘scene’ without having to go out and purchase anything further to add on to the styling.
Our little model was patient, but succumbed to a cookie which she shared with her American Girl!
