Recipe: Chocolate and Avocado mousse with Dessert Dukkah

It’s been a full week of not preparing or eating dessert, or a slice of cake after Ifthar. I haven’t thought much about it, but neither have I craved the sugar. In earlier years, I would prepare a dessert or cake almost daily. We somehow felt like we ‘needed’ it. Years later, I can’t be bothered to look for something sweet to eat. I think I’m also enjoying an alternative eating lifestyle where I don’t look for things to fill me up, or compensate for missed sweeties.


I came across the recipe for Chocolate and Avocado mousse online. It looked amazing and I could almost picture what it would taste like. I imagined the smoothness from the avocado and the rich chocolate taste from the cocoa. I took the plunge and made it, but I’d alter the amount of cocoa for the next time and increase the honey for sweetness.

To top it off, Dessert Dukkah; a mixture of roasted Almond, pistachio, cocoa nibs, toasted coconut and Cinnamon sugar.

Instead of fresh cream, chill any leftover coconut cream and whip it up for a fake fresh cream topping.
I used my Nutribullet to blend the ingredients, and it took under 10 minutes to put this together. You may leave it in the fridge to firm up.

In a blender add:
1 avocado
1 tbl cocoa powder
Half a cup of Almond Milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
Half a tsp of cinnamon sugar
3 tbl honey
Blitz and leave in the refrigerator until you’re ready to eat. Top with the whipped coconut cream and Dessert Dukkah.
