Taking a tablescape from summer-brights to elegant-evening will be an effortless exercise for participants who attended last Saturday’s Living the Lifestyle workshop & High Tea.
Not only will they entertain in high-style after Naqiyah’s presentation on conceptualising truly memorable table settings but they’ll also look every inch the part, now that make-up artist Rowena Saloojee has demonstrated to them the techniques to achieving a flawless face and look, sheer enough for Summer.
Saaleha Bamjee guided participants through the steps to creating paper decor to complement the tablescape’s theme just before the afternoon closed with a truly epicurean repast; a high tea catering to both sweet and savoury tastes by offering up a veritable spread that included:
Lemon zest cheesecake
Vanilla cheesecake with wholenut ganache
Fruit tartlet with pastry cream
Sesame poppy tuile
Chocolate torte with sweet pastry
Turkish delight chocolate mousse
Rose scented petite cupcakes
Prawn cocktail petite canapes
Chicken & mushroom country quiche
Cucumber & cream cheese canapes
Prawn & avocado petites
Cream cheese & cranberry spread with crackers
Muhammad Saleh, who is currently under the tutelage of pastry doyen Nico van der Walt, graciously sponsored an elegant range of patisseries showcasing his budding chocolate and sugar-art mastery.
Each participant took home a comprehensive set of notes and access to papercraft templates created exclusively for the workshop by Saaleha, along with the sweetest little clay nametag pins made by Fatima of www.theluckypacket.co.za
