I have a pair of Diesel jeans which I absolutely adore and it can do no wrong to my body shape. When I prefer to wear a skinner option, I look towards a dark-blue denim by Mango which I purchased whilst they still had a stand-alone store in SA. I rarely shop for jeans. I’m almost certain that I don’t know how to (Note: This can be an actual job prospect for someone). I have a curvier bottom and I’m fairly short so I need to be really careful with the cut that I choose to avoid everything appearing bottom-heavy.
The fringed jean was trending in the 70’s already. It was a trend that I was almost certain that I’d never wear because it wasn’t going to flatter my body shape. And there I was; 2 weeks into looking for a pair and walking into almost every department and clothing store in Sandton City because I.had.to.have.one.
My friend has been wearing hers for a few months now. She purchased hers in Zara abroad and wears it with a plain t-shirt and Chanel sling-backs. There’s something about the look that just appears classy (picture tan bag with sunnies and a red lip).
I looked to her for inspiration for this look; a pair of Witchery fringed jeans, Chanel courts and a striped wrap-shirt from Country Road. I wouldn’t usually consider styling it this way – I’m predictable when it comes to fashion and would like have styled it with a navy skirt and tan sandals. I liked the detail on the sleeve of the shirt and because the jeans are fairly plain, the look came together well.
I must add, I’m quite fond of how sexy your ankle looks with a slight crop on the jeans. Its just enough skin to be showing to make the ankle appear skinnier.
If you’re struggling to find a pair, I came across an online tutorial to guide you into fringing one of your older pairs:
A pair of jeans is one item that has to try hard at going horribly wrong. Even if this style is not for your body shape, there are other styles can be easily adapted to suit the trend. I have been rushing on the step-style jeans, have you seen it?
Here is some inspiration to use this trend to suit your personal style:
Wrap-top: Country Road, stand-alone and Woolworths.
Jeans: Witchery, Woolworths.
