The inimitable personality that is Fehmida Jordaan fizzes long after her mocktails have been muddled and mixed.
After Fehmida’s stellar presentation at the last niQi Living Luxe workshop, we were thrilled to host her at the niQi studio for her full mocktail workshop.
While Fehmida took us through the intricacies of mixology, Naqiyah accompanied the demonstration with a segment on styling drinks for presentation and serving by using quick and simple craft techniques.
Fehmida’s background is in interior design; specialising in corporate, retail and exhibition spaces. She’s lectured in the field and and is the current membership manager at the South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions. a non-profit organisation that represents the Interior Design industry in South Africa.
When she’s not mixing up mocktails or in the midst of a freelance design project, she also teaches abstract art classes.
She’s wrapped up her season of mocktail workshops, making way for a new series of workshops that are already garnering much interest. Her Luscious Winter Warmers will focus on soul-warming drinks, soups and a bisque or two. She’s planning a run of dessert workshops and for Summer, we can look forward to a new Mocktails and Coolers class, featuring an intriguing Turkish Delight drink.
Fehmida is passionate about learning, teaching, sharing, experimenting, exploring and challenging herself. Here she shares her method of recreating that quintessential mocktail, the Shirley Temple.
In a jug add one third to half a cup of Lime Cordial
Top up the jug with 1 litre of ice-cold Schweppes Lemonade
Now slowly pour in a third of a cup of Grenadine.
Lastly add some stemmed Maraschino cherries and about 3-4 tablespoons of the juice from the Maraschino cherries jar.
Add a stainless steel stirrer to the jug and it’s ready to be served. Stir before drinking.
