I got it.
I have admittedly never watched an ‘unboxing’ video (watching YouTubers open up and unpack Louis Vuittons from dustbags does.not.count as ‘never watching’). I’m talking tech-stuff, gadgets and home-appliances. Why? Because it just doesn’t appeal to me. So when part of my brief from Huawei was to create an ‘unboxing video’, I knew that I wanted to create something that I would enjoy watching – enough to reply it 15 times and then still not be bored by it (does one actually make reference to receiving a USB cable in an unboxing video?)
I was mostly curious about what the colour on the back cover of my device was after having seeing the one that I really wanted! They are available in 5 colours; Amber, Breathing Crystal (my fave!), Pearl White, Aurora (the one that I received and pictured in my videos/images) and Black. I love that there are conservative options like Black and White (Pearl White) too because it’s easy to get bored of more stand-out colours over a period of time.
As with all other Huawei devices, a standard yet functional case is included in the box. For fancier options, you might need to wait a bit until they’re released. Expect to see Silicone cases, Smart Flip View Covers, Wallet Covers and PU Cases in stores soon.
Here are some ‘Behind the Scenes’ shots to browse through.
We shot the product shot images and videos on a mirrored table. This took some effort to ensure that both cameraman and my nose didn’t appear in the actual shot! We loved how the reflection of the wallpapered ceiling bounced off the mirror giving the actual product shots a very artistic impression.
I wanted the shoot and choice of music to be edgy and upbeat. I wanted the viewer to want it after watching it. I selected Ariana Grandes ‘7 Rings’ track because it allows you to ‘enjoy the finer things’.
I am wearing a knit skirt and jersey with fine gold threads, embellished with gold buttons from Zara (recent: March 2019). To soften the look, Raeesa from Terenzo Suites created a soft wave with a thin braided ‘alice-band’ across the front of my hair.
Shot on location at a private residence with interiors designed by Brian Leib Interior Design by Softsquare Productions. The concept was art directed by Naqiyah Mayat with assistance from Layla Shaik Photography.
